The City of Portland’s Office of Equity and Human Rights, Portland Commission on Disability (PCOD), and community partners invite you to a series of events celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, culminating in a main event on July 26.
PCOD is also looking for people who want to tell their stories. Do you have a story to share with others about your lived experience with Disability? Do you have an experience to share about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? Are you able to commit to attending four (4) storytelling workshops and one (1) final performance? ADA 25th Anniversary Kick-Off Event

Opening Ceremony of the Disability History Exhibit, “Advocating Change Together” (viewable online)
ASL & descriptive interpretation provided
Portland State University ADA 25th Anniversary
Tuesday, July 21, Noon – 2:00 p.m.
PSU Park Blocks, SW Park Ave. between SW Harrison & Montgomery Streets
PCOD will have a display table. ASL interpretation provided.
ADA 25th Anniversary Celebration (main event)
Sunday, July 26, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
IRCO (Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization), 10301 NE Glisan St.
The event theme is “Sharing our Histories, Dreaming our Future.” Please join us as we look at the beginning of the Disability Rights movement, celebrate our successes, and reflect on the road ahead.
The event will feature members of the disability community invited to share their stories.
This will be a universally accessible event. ASL interpretation, closed captioning, and audio descriptions will be provided.
