Portland Police Bureau wants input on communication policies

The Portland Police Bureau wants your input on Directive 640.36, “Communication with Hearing Impaired and Limited English Proficient Persons.” The Bureau is accepting feedback until February 3, 2017.

The directive says when the Bureau will use interpreter services, TTYs, and telephone relay services to communicate with Deaf or Hard of Hearing people, or anyone who has a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English.

The Oregon Association of the Deaf has submitted input.

You can read the directive, and provide feedback.
