Disability Rights Oregon is seeking a Compliance Analyst who thrives in a team environment and has the drive and determination to advocate for people with disabilities.


The Compliance Analyst conducts site reviews and provides technical assistance in supporting payees to maximize their services to beneficiaries. The Compliance Analyst timely completes and submits required reports to the Social Security Administration. This position provides mentoring and support for less experienced staff members in assigned areas. The Compliance Analyst also conducts educational visits to ensure that representative payees fully understand their duties and responsibilities and are on the right track with respect to recordkeeping and reporting.

This position requires frequent travel within Oregon for approximately 25%+ of the position. Travel will vary from week to week depending on the location of the review being conducted. In some weeks, travel will include overnights or multiple days and may including occasional weekend travel.


What you can expect to accomplish:

  • Independently conducts site reviews and visits, adhering to specific Social Security Administration (SSA) guidelines and protocols. This includes interviewing representative payees and beneficiaries, reviewing confidential and private records, documenting observations, collecting evidence and information of value, evaluating representative payees for potential financial abuse or neglect, and making independent recommendations for improvement.

  • Evaluates and analyzes financial records to assess violations or potential incidents of mismanagement of beneficiary funds.

  • Maintains timely documentation with careful attention to detail and data entry accuracy in SSA specified data collection system.

  • Reviews worksites and housing facilities for possible health and safety violations.

  • Develops recommendations for corrective action plans, based on evaluation and analysis of review, to assist representative payees in conforming to requirements specified by the Social Security Administration Commissioner.

  • Develops strategy and direction for the program.


What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or similar experience, preferred

  • Four (4) years’ experience investigating, monitoring, or ensuring compliance with city, county, or other government programs, which may include developmental disability services, aging services, or mental health services.

  • Demonstrated success in working with persons with disabilities and maintaining confidential information.

  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to do so in a concise manner, even when doing so regarding complex issues to a variety of people.

  • Previous experience working as a contractor to the Social Security Administration, preferred.

  • Previous experience with the Social Security Administration, preferred.

  • Interviewing people with disabilities with communication barriers, preferred.

Where is this position located?

This position is hybrid-eligible within Oregon, with some work in the office and some work from home (2-3 days in office per week). DRO’s main office is in Portland, Oregon.


Pay Equity

To ensure pay equity among our staff, DRO pays employees strictly based on years of relevant experience. For this position, zero to five years of experience can expect a base salary between $36,050-$39,750, six to ten years between $40,550-$43,750, 11 to 15 years between $44,550-$48,150, 16 to 20 years between $49,050 and $52,950.
