Wyatt and Noah's Story
During three-year-old Wyatt and 18-month-old Noah’s first three weeks of foster care, they were moved almost constantly. Sometimes the young brothers were moved twice within a 24-hour period. They experienced a total of six to seven placements within three weeks. Ultimately, DHS decided to place Wyatt and Noah in separate foster homes. Since being separated, three-year-old Wyatt experienced emotional outbursts that could include hitting, kicking, and screaming.
Infant Noah needs to be held constantly, and throws a tantrum if attention moves away from him. Noah began experiencing night terrors, screaming loudly in the middle of the night while seeming to remain asleep. DHS has noted that their frequent changes in placements have had a “significant adverse impact on each child’s behavior.”
