Jan Friedman

Senior Staff Attorney

Jan upholds the legal rights of individuals under guardianship; represents people seeking access to coverage for medically necessary Assistive Technology; and advocates to ensure effective training for police interactions with people with disabilities.

Currently, she serves as Chair of the Oregon State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section Executive Committee; the Long Term Care Ombudsman Residential Facilities Advisory Committee; and the Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics and Orthotics Work Group. Jan was a five (5) year member of the Portland Police Bureau Behavioral Health Unit Advisory Committee.

She has worked for Disability Rights Oregon since 1999, and has been practicing law since 1989.
