Malia Scharer

Staff Attorney

Malia joined Disability Rights Oregon in August 2024 as Staff Attorney for the Multnomah Civil Commitment Program. 

Born and raised in Oregon, Malia earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon before receiving her law degree from Willamette University and recently taking the Bar exam. During law school, Malia worked as a law clerk for Legal Aid Services of Oregon and interned here at Disability Rights Oregon.

In her free time, Malia enjoys visiting local coffee shops, reading science fiction, spending quality time with her friends and family, and singing in her local choir.
